About Alpha
The Alpha course is an opportunity to explore the validity and
relevance of the Christian faith to your life today. It is a practical
introduction to the basics of Christianity centered around a meal,
a talk, and small group discussion.
People come for different reasons, from different backgrounds,
and with different opinions; but at Alpha, those differences only
add to the conversation and often lead to greater understanding.
Alpha is for everyone! It's especially geared to:
- those interested in investigating Christianity
- new Christians
- those who want to brush up on the basics
- those who feel they never really got going as a Christian
Childcare is provided free of charge upon advance request. A highlight
of the course is the 1.5 day retreat! Watch for upcoming Alpha courses
in the Announcements.
Ask Anything: Alpha is a place where no question is too
simple or too hostile and all viewpoints are respected.
Real Problems: Life is full of tough times; shaky employment,
relationship struggles, kid troubles, and illness. No matter what
you are facing, Alpha is a place to ask why; with the freedom to
share or just sit back and listen.
Big Questions: Is there a God? Why am I here? Who is Jesus?
What about other religions? Alpha tackles these and other questions
each week. Chances are somebody in your group is wondering the same
thing you are.
Building Friendships: Some of the closest and most long
lasting friendships have been built on the Alpha course. Alpha friendships
get beyond the standard, "What is your name and what do you
do?", so you connect on a more personal level. On the weekend
away, which is a key part
of the Alpha course, you get to know each other even better.
Food and Fun: Alpha isn't all work. In fact, most of the
time it is simply just fun. Sharing a casual meal and hanging out
after a long day can be a time to relax and be yourself with no
expectations or strings attached.
There is no charge for the Alpha course; although a small contribution
is requested to defray meal costs for each session and participants
customarily pay for their accommodations at the overnight retreat.
An Alpha evening begins with a meal at 6:30 PM and ends at 9:15
PM.
The Alpha Introduction dinner is held a week or two before the
class begins.
